Advanced Public Transport Management System (APTMS) – City of Cape Town: MyCiTi

In 2015, the City of Cape Town appointed TMT to deliver a Design, Build, Operate and Maintain contract for its Advanced Public Transport Management System (APTMS). Supporting the MyCiTi Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) service, the system provides operational oversight and passenger-focused information services.

Scope

  • Installation across the Traffic Management Control Centre, 7 bus depots, 42 bus stations and 366 buses.

  • Development, installation and integration of international solutions from Trapeze, Mentz and DTI.

  • Hosting and maintenance of ICT infrastructure for all APTMS solutions.

Impact

The system enables route planning and scheduling, driver communication, and passenger information at stations and on-board buses. Additional features include on-board CCTV, Wi-Fi in depots and real-time business intelligence for planning and analysis, helping Cape Town deliver a safe and efficient public transport service.
